Colleen Anne Burke

Ms. Burke is an independent strategic consultant, specializing in communications, message creation and concept framing. She has an MBA from Harvard Business School, a BA from Vassar College and is currently writing her PhD dissertation on metaphor, myth and message. She is a co-author of Educating for Judgment: The Art of Discussion Leadership published by the Harvard Business School Press in multiple editions and languages. For the past fifteen years Ms. Burke was the founder and principal of Cambridge Common Consulting based in Cambridge, Massachusetts where her clients spanned global corporations, including Arthur Andersen LLP, IBM, Lotus Development, RR Donnelly, and Camp Dresser & McKee; academic institutions, including Princeton and Harvard Business School, and web-based ventures, including MeansBusiness, Motivity, and the OtterGroup. For the decade prior to that she was an award-winning professor of management at Skidmore College and, in 1990, was honored as the outstanding teacher of the year and the graduation speaker. Her entrepreneurial record includes successfully founding a direct mail catalog of children’s furnishings, The Children’s Design Center, and being the co-owner and marketing vice president of a turn-around venture in the sparkling mineral water market, The Saratoga Springs Company. Ms. Burke also served as a Program Associate on the executive staff of New York Governor Hugh L Carey with liaison responsibilities for NYDOT, the Port Authority of NY/NJ, the MTA and the New York State Council on the Arts.
